In 2000 Jo formed the London School of Striptease and the London Academy of Burlesque , the very first schools of their kind in Europe . Why? … “I want women – all women – to feel fabulous about themselves, regardless of age, shape or dancing ability." By teaching women her craft, she has already shown more than 10,000 women how to gain confidence in their bodies, express the essence of their sensuality and awaken their inner showgirls.
Jo is an ambassador for the industry, giving her candid views in the press and on many radio and TV shows. Considered an expert in her field, she is often hired to teach and choreograph actresses and dancers for film, television and stage work. In 2005 she choreographed the highly acclaimed reverse striptease act for Miss Immodesty Blaize , London 's first lady of burlesque, in her West End show.
Triumphantly, 2008 marked Jo King 's 30 th year in the burlesque industry. The keys to her success are her passion for her work, her infectious enthusiasm for life and her unique ability to convey that being female truly is fabulous!
Jo has created the concept and choreography for Miss Polly 's ‘Harlem Nocturne', ‘Barbarella' and ‘Scarlet Tease' and has done the same for group numbers such as ‘ Pan Amazing ' and ‘Loving Spree'.
